The BHP Island Copper Foreshore Remediation Project is a proposed demolition, remediation and habitat development project in Rupert Inlet, B.C. Ecowest’s Ian Ponsford led a multidisciplinary team of engineers, biologists and site remediation specialists to design a solution that supports BHP’s intention to relinquish water lot leases adjacent to the closed Island Copper Mine. Working closely with BHP’s team, Ecowest is supporting environmental planning, project permitting and Indigenous group engagement, while facilitating economic development opportunities to enable the local community to benefit from the project’s implementation.
